Thank you for coming to my page! It's an honor and a privilege to connect with occupational therapy practitioners across the country.

Here are some quick facts about me:

  • My Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree is from Pacific University (I graduated in 2013)

  • I transitioned from clinics to schools in 2017 (and it was quite a learning curve!)

  • In 2022, I became and Executive Functions Consultant through Sensational Brain

Even with my training and experience, I was not prepared for school-based therapy!

Navigating an educational model instead of a medical one, managing a large caseload across multiple campuses, and trying to explain my role (which, honestly, I didn't fully understand myself) felt overwhelming.

I saw other practitioners sharing the same struggles:

 

“I know ____ would be best practice, but”...
→ There’s no support.
→ No one understands what I do.
→ I can barely keep up. 

But I wasn't willing to accept defeat. I dove into the literature, brushed up on educational policy, and focused on building collaborative connections on my teams.

As I strengthened my understanding of school-based practice, my practice became more effective – and fun!

I found that I was able to: 

→ Target skills that are truly educationally relevant

→ Ensure carryover across school settings

→ Schedule with greater flexibility

→ Naturally build rapport with students, teachers, and other stakeholders

I want that for you, too. 

Over the years, I’ve spoken with many school-based OT practitioners who feel just as I did when I started – eager to make an impact, but unsure where to begin.
