Helping School-Based OT Practitioners turn best practice into daily practice

Practical guidance, resources, and support to help you navigate the educational model, collaborate effectively, and create meaningful opportunities for student participation.

School-based practice requires a different way of thinking.

Moving from a medical model to an educational model can leave therapists questioning their role, their services, and how to best support students in the school environment.

If you find yourself second-guessing your decisions and wondering whether your services are truly making a difference, you're in the right place.

You don't need more templates and goal banks. You need a clearer framework for applying your expertise in ways that make sense in schools, so you can confidently make decisions and provide truly meaningful support for students - without burning out.

School-Based OT doesn't have to feel this confusing.

For many practitioners the shift to schools feels harder than expected.

Your OT education equipped you with skills in activity analysis, therapeutic intervention, and problem-solving. You were trained to identify barriers and support participation.

What OT school often doesn't provide is a clear framework for applying an educational model - integrating services into the realities of a school day, collaborating with teams, and making decisions within the constraints of caseloads, schedules, and school systems.

Even experienced practitioners can find themselves questioning whether they are providing the right support.

You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need a clearer way forward.

Whether you're new to schools or years into practice, you deserve support that reflects how schools actually operate, and guidance that helps your work feel effective, aligned, and sustainable.

It's Time for a Change

because you have the potential to make a greater impact.

When I transitioned from clinics to schools, I quickly realized that even with my training and experience, I was not prepared for the realities school-based therapy.

Navigating an educational model instead of a medical model completely changed how I approached collaboration, service delivery, and meaningful participation. It reshaped not only what I did, but why I made each decision.

My perspective shifted as I learned to lean into my role in the school setting.

I found new opportunities to collaborate, support inclusive environments, and help students participate in real-life, everyday moments.

What started as my own learning journey became a passion for helping other school-based practitioners navigate the educational model.

That's why I started Jennifer Huff LLC.

To help other school-based practitioners bridge the gap between best practice and everyday practice through practical guidance, resources, and support designed for the realities of school-based practice.

Because when practitioners have the right framework and support, they're better equipped to create meaningful opportunities for student participation - without the burnout and frustration.
